Detailed description (English): European Mobility Week is celebrated this year under the slogan “We share public space”. ConBici is committed to protecting children's health by creating safe and healthy school environments. That is why we have chosen to collaborate with local Cycling with Clean Air volunteer groups, schools and AMPAS of their cities to make visible the importance of measures that promote an active, healthy and sustainable city.
To make visible that the moments of greatest pollution in cities occur during the school exit and entrance hours. This indicates that with appropriate measures to encourage and enable active mobility and public transport to school, pollution levels would be significantly reduced, especially in vulnerable environments.
The proposed action will be developed simultaneously in several Spanish cities with the involvement of volunteer groups participating in the citizen science project Cycling with clean air and schools interested in joining the action. The local volunteer groups will support the schools and ConBici will support volunteers by offering them the technical support to measure air pollution while traveling to school and for the communication and dissemination of the action.
It is proposed to measure air pollution around schools on two consecutive days at the same time coinciding with the time of school entry. These days will be representative of a day with traffic and a day without traffic: World Car Free Day Sunday 22/09/24 vs Monday 23/09/24
During the mobility week, the dissemination of the action will be supported to ensure maximum participation.
