Detailed description (English): On Tuesday 16 September 2025 (17:30 – 19:30), the PTP, Barcelona’s ATM and the Vilafranca del Penedès city council organise the eighth edition of this emblematic race. Participants depart from several industrial estates around Vilafranca and race to Plaça Penedès using different modes (public transport, bicycle or car). The activity demonstrates that parking searches, congestion and fuel costs often make the private car slower and more expensive than sustainable modes. This year it highlights the new cycle lane connecting Vilafranca to Els Monjos, proving that cycling and public transport are safe, healthy and economical alternatives. Registration is free but required; all ages are welcome. At the finish, times and emissions are recorded, participants receive a public‑transport ticket and refreshments.
Target group(s): Residents of Vilafranca and the Alt Penedès region, families, company teams and mobility enthusiasts of all ages
Objectives: Compare travel time, emissions and cost of different modes; show that sustainable mobility can outperform private cars; highlight the new cycle lane and advocate safer cycling
Partner: PTP (Associació per a la Promoció del Transport Públic), ATM de Barcelona and the Vilafranca del Penedès City Council
