Partner: The Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (COCEMFE) and its Association Movement are commemorating European Mobility Week (EMW) to promote the collection of accessibility incidents through the use of the mobile application 'AccesibilidApp'.
COCEMFE is joining the celebration with the aim of promoting better connections between cities and municipalities, as well as between the towns and villages in these rural areas, through accessibility in public transport and all the elements that allow this social group to enjoy full mobility for all, without exception, in their surroundings.
People with disabilities living in rural areas face significant distances and, consequently, travel time to access basic and essential services such as education, leisure, and social and healthcare. Given this reality, accessibility and public transport become strategic elements to promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities in rural areas. “We need interconnected mobility based on quality, safety, and universal accessibility,” says COCEMFE President Anxo Queiruga, highlighting the importance of removing all barriers that prevent people with reduced mobility from accessing public transportation on equal terms. “Accessibility is an essential mechanism for people with disabilities to develop independently in rural areas,” he emphasizes.
‘AccesibilidApp’ is a web application developed by COCEMFE, with the support of the Vodafone Spain Foundation, and is part of the initiatives carried out by the organization within its Strategic Program to Promote Personal Autonomy for People with Physical and Organic Disabilities, funded by the 0.7% tax allocation, subsidized by the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda.
