Detailed description (English): The proposed program is to offer an educational itinerary at the Oceanogràfic facilities for children, featuring the character Simón and the two Oceanogràfic mascots (Marina and Bobo), and to travel by public transport to foster values of respect for the environment in which we live.
The activity has three clearly defined parts:
1. The animated children's character Simón visits the Oceanogràfic and accompanies the schoolchildren through a corporeal figure that enlivens the activity. The children identify with Simón for several reasons. The first is their age proximity. The second is the process of viewer identification (whether child or adult) with the television character. And the third is because both Simón and the child viewers share a developmental stage and, therefore, reason and perceive the world in the same way. In addition to Simón, two of the Oceanogràfic's own mascots, Marina and Bobo, participate, taking them on a marine journey through the educational trip.
2. The group will travel by public transport, accompanied by mascots Simón and Marina, who will introduce European Mobility Week through a metro ride sponsored by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGV), a collaborating entity in this event. During the ride, the topic of transport, the current problems associated with fossil fuel pollution, and the importance of using sustainable modes of transport such as walking, cycling, or public transport will be discussed.
3. Bobo will welcome the group at the station and, once at the Oceanogràfic, a guided tour will be presented by the Education team, whose content links
Target group(s): An educational center in the Nazaret neighborhood, a socioeconomically deprived neighborhood in Valencia that, until recently, was isolated from the city, is invited to participate. Two major milestones have changed the connection between this maritime neighborhood and the heart of the city: in 2014, the EMT bus line 95 was launched, and in May 2022, the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGV) metro line 10 was inaugurated. These two public initiatives have contributed to connecting the city with Nazaret, opening up opportunities for citizens to access culture, leisure, employment, and other public services that were previously unavailable to the neighborhood. In this case, a group of young schoolchildren are being given access to learning and enjoying the Oceanogràfic.
50 students, ages 5 to 6, from the Luis Vives school, located in the Nazaret neighborhood (Valencia), next to the Oceanogràfic.
Objectives: • Provide access to culture, leisure, and education for schoolchildren in a deprived neighborhood
• Introduce the importance of celebrating European Mobility Week to children
• Promote environmental protection values
• Promote good transportation practices (walking, skating, or using public transportation to school, for example)
• Demonstrate how marine species move through the water
• Explain some morphological adaptations
• Oceanic migrations and currents
• Relate the negative effects of climate change on marine fauna and gases from daily transportation (cars, airplanes, etc.)
