Detailed description (English): The activity took place as a game/competition between two classes of our high school, both classes being accompanied throughout the activity, on the routes in the city, by a French teacher. Divided into two teams, with a map of the city in their hands, armed with precise questions/guides and a lot of enthusiasm, the young people went hunting.
How exactly did the hunt happen?
Before leaving the school for the various locations in the city, the pupils were informed about the rules of the activity, how long it lasted, what they were allowed and not allowed to do, whether or not they were allowed to use public transport, etc. The two classes were each given a different question in French. The answer to these questions led the class groups to go to a place in the city where they received further clues and played different knowledge games. Examples of questions/clues asked to students in French:
(Class X- C1): You walk down the street named after the capital of France and stop in front of the number that reminds you of France's National Day and you will receive another question/clue that will send you to another location. (The students move to Paris Street in Timisoara and get another clue in front of the number 14).
These trails got the students moving more than on a typical day, taking a closer look at buildings and places in the city that they would otherwise have overlooked.
After finding and solving the clues, the two classes' meeting point was at the French Institute in Timisoara where the first team to arrive was named the winner.
Target group(s): students of 10th grade C1, 10th grade C2.
Objectives: - To stimulate students to use their brains and bodies;
- To practice French in conditions other than the usual classroom ones.
Partner: French Institute in Timisoara
